Charging connectors (Type 2, CCS, GB/T)
The EV's 'plugs', and there's more than one. In the region Type 2 (slow) and CCS2 (fast) rule; watch out for cars imported straight from China, which can carry the Chinese GB/T connector, incompatible with local chargers.
Not every EV carries the same plug. For slow AC charging, the regional standard is Type 2. For fast DC charging, CCS2 rules — the same Type 2 with two fat pins below it — today dominant across Europe and Latin America.
Here's a key detail if you buy an EV brought straight from China: the Chinese standard is GB/T, different from CCS. Brands that sell officially in the region already fit their cars with the local connector, but a privately imported unit can arrive with GB/T — and then it won't fit local chargers without an adapter, which for fast charging is pricey and scarce. It's one of the first things to confirm before buying.
NACS is Tesla's connector, more compact, which other brands have begun adopting (mostly in the US). There are adapters for almost everything, but the car born with the right connector for your country always has it easier.
